Many women have been put off riding a motorbike in the past for various reasons. Apart from the old-age hairy biker image, tattered black leather and greasy bandanas, the biker community has always been a very male dominated community.

Thats changing though! Groups of women who ride bikes are growing every day, and motorbikes are a much more accessible vehicle than before.

If its a CBT to get you from A to B, or a full licence for hobby, work, commuting or racing, it doesn’t matter why you ride, we create ladies only lessons for a more comfortable environment..

The course

  • Our courses are tailored to you; we aim help you develop your individual skills, at your individual speeds.
  • Our Ladies Only motorbike lessons are tailored to have a less male dominated atmosphere
  • This doesn’t mean we’re patronising or talking down. Its the same lessons as normal, but with other female students.
  • No pink high vis, No one calling you princess and no camomile tea to start. Its coffee and bikes just like everyone else (tea optional!).

Types of full licence

There are different types of full Licence on offer, to fit what you’re looking to.

The types available are all dependent on your age and the bike you take your test on:

  • AM Licence (50cc)– If you only want to ride a scooter (16yo+)
  • A1 Licence (125cc) – Ideal for younger riders (17yo+)
  • A2 Licence (500cc) – More freedom and choice (19yo+)
  • Full Licence (650cc+) – The only option if you want to ride any bike. (Min 24yo+ or 21yo+ if you’ve held an A2 Licence for 2 years)

Course Requirements

To take your course you will require:

  • UK Provisional Licence/ UK Full Car Licence / EU Licence with a Confirmation of Registration Certificate (D91)
  • If you still have an old style paper Licence (without a photo) you must bring a valid passport as proof of ID
  • Different criteria depending on which course you choose

The Ride Academy provides everything you need on the day. Bike hire, clothing (helmet, jacket, gloves, waterproof trousers) & all insurances.

You will need to wear sensible clothing – we suggest jeans and boots / trainers. Strictly no shorts, sandals or flip-flops. When you arrive for your lesson, if your instructor feels that you are not sensibly dressed they could reject you for training.
